Railway lines modernization with powerful TETRA radio system
The state-owned railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) is responsible for freight and passenger traffic in Kazakhstan. In a country covering more than 2 million km², it is essential to travel long distances, therefore continuously accessible railway communication is very important for infrastructure and economy.
A powerful radio communication system makes a significant contribution to the efficient and safe operation of railways.
In the period from 2012 to 2014, within the framework of the project with Kazakhstan partners, the integration of a fully digital TETRA radio communication system for “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ) was carried out.
TETRA solution for KTZ
A customized TETRA mobile radio system with robust voice & data communication and connection to the public telephone network (PABX/PSTN).
ACCESSNET®-T IP FOR EFFICIENT RAIL TRAFFIC
Our ACCESSNET®-T IP radio communication system provides reliable voice communication and data transmission for two railway lines with a total length of 800 km. One line is in the north of the country, the second one is in the area of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Our TETRA radio system guarantees long-term operation, especially in case of malfunction or an emergency.
The TETRA radio system also maintains the signaling system based on the standardized ETCS railway traffic control center system.
OUR MOBILE RADIO SOLUTION IN DETAIL
For the two railway lines in Kazakhstan we installed 48 base stations, which, together with the switching nodes, form the IP-based TETRA radio communication system. Our control system moni-tors all components constantly and furnishes the operator with clear information about the state of the system.
With the delivered radio stations, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) employees use the ACCESSNET®-T IP radio system with guaranteed uninterrupted operation and reliability. Hytera’s Digital Voice Recording System (DVRS) provides safe recording of voice and data transmission and also guarantees the availability of all recordings.
The IP network guarantees efficient transmission even of large amounts of data and is therefore optimally suited for the transmission of heterogeneous traffic. The TETRA radio system is also linked to the PABX system via VoIP, using the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP).
Optimal application of system redundancy guarantees continuous system health. Geographical redundancy and redundancy of control channels make it possible to provide voice communication and data transfer even in case of serious issues.
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) was founded in 1997 as a state-run railway company with 155,000 employees. It operates a 15,000 km railway network.
kilometers of railway network are operated by KTZ.
