ACCESSNET®-T IP for Chopin Airport
HMF Smart Solutions, together with partner RadioPartners from Warsaw, has equipped Poland’s largest airport with a new ACCESSNET®-T IP system. The new, digital TETRA infrastructure has replaced an old analog system. With 20 million passengers a year and around 300 flights a day, Chopin Airport, on the outskirts of the Polish capital, is one of the largest transfer points for passengers and transport goods in Eastern Europe.
The TETRA radio system is fully redundant and consists of type DIB-R5 advanced TETRA base stations. The system covers the entire airport site (all indoor and outdoor areas) and enables reliable communication with more than 1,000 TETRA radios.
Users include all airline supply units and vehicles at the front end – from controllers to bus drivers, the airport fire brigade, all security forces and passenger and goods-handling staff. The core functions of the TETRA solution are provided by two redundant switching nodes with Network Management System (NMS) and voice recording.
“The TETRA radio solution is the new heart of airport communications. The air traffic control tower staff directly communicates with colleagues on the tarmac,” explains Tomasz Rzeszutek, project manager for the communication system upgrade on site.
2022
With ACCESSNET®-T IP from HMF Smart Solutions, all supply and handling units, fire brigades and security forces at Chopin Airport in Warsaw, Poland’s largest airport, communicate using a state-of-the-art TETRA radio solution. The new system offers a wide range of advanced functions, including a connection to analog aeronautical radio.
As a result, using ACCESSNET®-T IP has increased the efficiency of operational processes and facilitated cooperation. The central control of communications on the airport site is handled by five dispatcher workstations. To enable this, the dispatcher software (from Mocotec) was customised.
