The Stelingen riding club from the Hanover region organised a rural horse show in August with numerous competitions in the dressage and jumping disciplines. Several hundred riders and their horses competed over this event weekend. To ensure that the many volunteers on the extensive show grounds could make arrangements quickly and smoothly and coordinate the participants with their horses conveniently, the voluntary show organisers received support from HMF: the mobile radio experts from Bad Münder equipped the club members with the robust Hytera Power446 analog handheld radios for the tournament weekend.
This enabled excellent, rapid communication between the volunteers at all times – even in noisy surroundings. The club members ensured that the tournament ran smoothly by, for example, sending the riders and horses to the relevant competition areas on time, rebuilding the show jumping course in time for the start of the advertised competitions and reconditioning the floor of the dressage arena between the competitions. The volunteers also regulated the arrival and departure traffic in the car park, organised supplies of food and drinks in the catering areas and called the farrier or vet for the participants where necessary – and were on hand wherever support was needed.
The radios were also used to quickly pass on important information such as changes to the schedule and the latest standings in ongoing competitions . This ensured that participants and visitors were always up to date on the progress of the competition, even in the preparation areas.
